Custom Domains

Serve a project hosted on StackMivo from your own domain, with automatic DNS detection, a free SSL certificate, and auto-renewal.

Every project hosted on StackMivo gets a default subdomain URL. With a custom domain, you can serve the same project from a web address you own — www.yourbrand.com instead of the default StackMivo subdomain.

This page covers custom domains for projects hosted on StackMivo (the default). Projects deployed elsewhere have their own custom-domain flows: see Laravel Cloud and Laravel Forge.

Requirements

  • A Build plan. On the Free and Prototype tiers the domain form is visible but saving opens the upgrade dialog. See Free & Prototype tiers.
  • A domain you own, managed at any DNS provider (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, ...).
  • The project must be hosted on StackMivo. Each project can have one custom domain at a time.

Where to find it

Two entry points, both inside the IDE:

  • Publish menu: click Publish in the IDE header. The menu shows a Custom domain row — "Connect your domain" when none is set, or the live domain once active.
  • Settings → Domains: the full management view. This is where the setup wizard lives.

The Domains view always shows your project's Default URL for reference. It stays active even after a custom domain is connected.

Connecting your domain

Setup is a three-step wizard: Enter domain → Add DNS record → Live.

Step 1: Enter your domain

Type the domain you want to use and click Continue. A subdomain like www.yourbrand.com is recommended — subdomains use a CNAME record, which every DNS provider supports.

Step 2: Add the DNS record

StackMivo shows you exactly one record to add at your DNS provider, and picks the right type automatically:

Your domainRecord typeName / HostValue
A subdomain (www.yourbrand.com, app.yourbrand.com)CNAMEOnly the subdomain part (e.g. www)The StackMivo target hostname shown on screen
A bare domain (yourbrand.com)A@The server IP address shown on screen

Copy buttons are provided for each value. Add the record in the DNS settings of the provider where you bought the domain.

Bare domains get an A record because most providers don't allow a CNAME on the domain itself. The @ in the Name field means "the domain itself" — some providers fill it in automatically. For subdomains, type only the subdomain part in the Name field; your provider appends the rest.

Step 3: Wait for verification (it's automatic)

Once the domain is saved, StackMivo checks your DNS automatically every 30 seconds — you can leave the page and come back. A Check now button is there if you'd rather not wait for the next cycle.

DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to propagate, depending on your provider.

When the record is found, the status switches to Setting up: StackMivo starts your project, issues a free SSL certificate (Let's Encrypt), and publishes the domain. This usually takes under a minute. When it finishes, the wizard shows Active and your project is live at https://your-domain.

HTTPS is automatic. The SSL certificate is issued during setup and renews automatically — there's nothing to maintain.

If setup fails

If provisioning fails, the Domains view shows the actual reason (not a generic error) with a Try again button. Common causes:

ProblemFix
DNS record not found yetWait for propagation — the auto-check keeps running every 30 seconds
Record points to the wrong valueCompare against the Type / Name / Value shown on screen and correct it at your provider
Domain already in use or not allowedSome hostnames (including StackMivo's own domains) can't be attached — use a different domain

Removing a custom domain

In Settings → Domains, click Remove and confirm. The domain stops serving the project and its SSL certificate is deleted. The default StackMivo URL keeps working, and you can reconnect the same domain (or a different one) at any time.

Downgrading to an entry tier doesn't lock you out of removal — you can always disconnect a domain, even when your plan no longer allows adding one.
